Two Palm Beach North Hospitals Receive A Grade for Safety

111

Five Palm Beach County hospitals received an A safety grade from The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit organization that calls itself a “watchdog” for health care buyers.

Of the 14 graded Palm Beach County hospitals, the following hospitals received an A: Jupiter Medical Center; Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center; Palms West Hospital; Lakeside Medical Center and Delray Medical Center.

The Leapfrog Group takes a microscope to how hospitals handle accidents, like leaving objects in a patient’s body during surgery, and infections like MRSA. The grading system is reviewed by an expert panel and is guided by the Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality at Johns Hopkins Medicine, and grades are handed out in spring and fall.
