John Couris, Tampa General Hospital

John D. Couris is the president and CEO of Tampa General Hospital, a nationally recognized, not-for-profit, academic and research health system. As a visionary leader in the health care industry, Couris is known for creating a professional culture that thrives on authenticity, kindness, and transparency. He believes that focusing on the well-being of his team drives positive experiences for patients.

Under Couris' leadership, Tampa General has expanded to the East Coast of Florida. The hospital opened Tampa General Hospital Cancer Institute in May 2020. With two locations in Palm Beach County, residents can now receive world-class cancer treatment and services with hometown convenience. Couris plans to continue Tampa General's expansion across the state by building relationships with additional local physicians to provide comprehensive treatment options across multiple specialties.

Prior to joining Tampa General Hospital, Couris served as president and CEO of Jupiter Medical Center in Jupiter, Florida. During his time there, he forged partnerships with notable institutions, including Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and Nicklaus Children's Hospital in Miami.

Couris is the recipient of multiple awards, including being named to Florida Trend's "Florida 500" list of most influential business leaders in the state. He is a graduate of Boston University and holds a Master of Science in Management from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
